Colonel Jangvir Lamba, a 53-year-old Indian Army officer posted at the ASC Centre (South) in Bengaluru, has successfully completed the world-renowned IRONMAN 140.6 Triathlon in Penghu, Taiwan.
The prestigious endurance race demands participants to complete 3.8 km of open-water swimming, 180 km of cycling, and 42.2 km of marathon running — all in one continuous stretch without a break.
Colonel Lamba, competing in the fiercely competitive 50–54 age category, battled extreme weather and tough terrain to finish the triathlon in an impressive 14 hours, 53 minutes, and 34 seconds. His achievement is hailed as a testament to unbreakable spirit and determination, proving that “age is no limit when the mind is resolute and the spirit unyielding,” as highlighted by the Ministry of Defence.
Hailing from Jaipur, Colonel Lamba is a fourth-generation Indian Army officer. He has a rich background as a former professional bodybuilder and currently serves as a national-level bodybuilding judge with the Indian Body Builders’ Federation.
Over the past few years, he has consistently demonstrated his passion for endurance sports, completing events like IRONMAN 70.3 Goa (November 2022), Asia-Pacific IRONMAN Championship in Cairns, Australia (June 2023), IRONMAN 140.6 Langkawi, Malaysia (October 2023), and the grueling Marathon des Sables — a 253.5-km multi-stage ultra-marathon across the Sahara desert — in April 2024.
Colonel Lamba’s latest IRONMAN victory stands not just as a personal milestone but also as an inspiration for soldiers, athletes, and citizens across India.
