In a recent conversation with the media, renowned director Anurag Kashyap, best known for his cult film Gangs of Wasseypur, confirmed that he has moved from Mumbai to Bangalore. The director, who has long voiced his dissatisfaction with the Bollywood industry, explained that he no longer wishes to be a part of its “toxic” environment and is choosing to distance himself from the industry’s pressures.

Kashyap took aim at Bollywood’s increasing obsession with box office numbers, claiming that it stifles creativity and doesn’t provide enough room for innovative ideas to thrive. This decision to relocate comes after he had previously hinted at leaving the industry, and now, reports confirm that he has acted on it.

Aside from his work behind the camera, Kashyap has also ventured into acting. He is currently shooting for the movie Dacoit – Ek Prem Katha, directed by Shaneil Deo. He shared his excitement about playing the role of a fearless cop, describing the challenges of portraying a character who is both dedicated to his duty and an Ayyappa devotee. Kashyap mentioned that the role’s dynamic nature, involving the balancing act between duty and dharma, as well as his dry sense of humor, was an exciting challenge.

Kashyap also expressed his eagerness to play this character in both Hindi and Telugu versions, noting that delivering the same impact across both languages would be a unique challenge that he is thoroughly enjoying.
