The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a revision in the FASTag Annual Pass fee for the financial year 2026–27. The updated rate will come into effect from April 1, 2026, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Under the revised structure, the cost of the annual pass will increase slightly from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075.
Annual Pass Benefits
The FASTag Annual Pass is designed to make highway travel smoother for private vehicle owners. It allows eligible vehicles to use multiple toll plazas across national highways and expressways through a single annual payment.
The pass is applicable for non-commercial vehicles, including:
- Cars
- Jeeps
- Vans
Once activated, the annual pass remains valid for one year or up to 200 toll crossings, whichever occurs first.
Coverage Across Toll Plazas
The scheme enables users to travel across approximately 1,150 toll plazas located on national highways and expressways throughout India.
Regardless of the individual toll charges at different plazas, users can continue to travel using the same pass until the validity period or crossing limit is reached.
Rule-Based Revision
The fee adjustment has been made in line with the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, which regulate toll collection and pricing on national highways.
Authorities noted that periodic revisions are part of the standard process to maintain and manage the country’s expanding highway infrastructure.
Growing Popularity of FASTag Pass
The FASTag Annual Pass was introduced on August 15, 2025, as part of the government’s efforts to streamline toll payments and reduce waiting time at toll plazas.
Since its launch, the initiative has received strong adoption, with over 56 lakh users already subscribing to the annual pass.
How to Activate the Pass
Vehicle owners with an active FASTag can purchase or activate the annual pass through:
- The Rajmarg Yatra mobile application
- The official NHAI website
Once the payment is completed, the pass is typically activated on the linked FASTag within around two hours.
Improving Toll Efficiency
Officials say the increasing adoption of the FASTag system reflects its convenience and efficiency for frequent highway users. The annual pass scheme is part of broader government efforts to digitise toll collection and improve the travel experience on India’s growing network of national highways and expressways.
With the revised pricing coming into effect in April, travellers planning frequent highway journeys in the coming year may need to factor the updated fee into their travel budgets.
