Malayalam actor Dileep, recently acquitted in the high-profile 2017 actor assault case, has issued his first public response after the verdict. The case, which stretched nearly nine years, has been one of the most widely covered legal battles in Kerala’s film industry.
Dileep Thanks Supporters, Says He Endured a 9-Year Struggle
Speaking shortly after the court’s decision, Dileep expressed deep gratitude to his well-wishers:
“Thank you to those who supported me, thank you to all those who stood by me for 9 years.”
Actor Alleges Conspiracy Originated From Ex-Wife Manju Warrier’s Remarks
Dileep further alleged that the initial spark for the case came from comments made by his ex-wife, actor Manju Warrier.
According to him:
“The conspiracy started when Manju said it was a conspiracy. After that, police began building the case.”
Dileep Accuses Police of Fabricating a Case
The actor claimed that a senior police officer and others deliberately constructed a false narrative around him.
He alleged:
- Police gathered the main accused and associates in jail to orchestrate a fabricated story.
- The media amplified this narrative on social platforms.
“The false story created by the police team failed in court,” he said, calling the case an attempt to destroy his image and career.
Court Acquits Dileep; Six Others Convicted
Dileep was the eighth accused in the case, which involved the abduction and assault of a prominent Malayalam actress in a moving car in 2017.
The court, presided over by Judge Varghese, found six other accused guilty on charges including:
- Criminal conspiracy
- Wrongful confinement
- Outraging modesty
- Abduction
- Attempt to disrobe
- Gang rape

Closing his statement, Dileep thanked the people who supported and prayed for him during the prolonged legal ordeal.
