TVK Leader Claims Vijay Will Become Tamil Nadu CM in 2026, Calls His Victory “Inevitable”

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief Coordinator Sengottaiyan on Friday declared that actor-politician Vijay is certain to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2026, stating that the “power of the people” will make it a reality. Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore airport, he said that no political force can counter the support that TVK and its leader enjoy.

Sengottaiyan asserted that Vijay’s entry into politics is driven by a desire to establish transparent, ethical, and people-centric governance. He claimed that the actor sacrificed an annual income of Rs 500 crore from cinema to serve the public and “create a new society.”

He added that the 2026 Assembly elections will reflect the people’s mandate in favour of Vijay, whom he described as a leader committed to transforming Tamil Nadu.

TVK’s Ideology Draws Inspiration from MGR

When asked about the TVK policy he admired most, Sengottaiyan compared Vijay’s vision to that of former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR). He recalled how MGR’s concept of “Annaiyam” represented a home without leaks, clothes that do not wear out, and rice that does not spoil — highlighting a welfare-driven approach.

He said TVK shares the same humane ideology:

• Housing for all
• Economic upliftment
• Dignified mobility, enabling every citizen to afford and operate a two-wheeler

Responding to questions about his earlier criticism of the AIADMK, Sengottaiyan clarified that his remarks were directed at the leadership after Jayalalithaa, not at the party during the eras of MGR or Jayalalithaa, which he described as periods of “sacred rule.”

When asked about AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s comments claiming that “people are not behind him,” Sengottaiyan countered that he had been elected nine times as MLA and contributed to the victory of others even without campaigning for himself.

“If someone thinks ‘I’, God will show him ‘He’,” he remarked, suggesting that public will and divine justice will reveal the truth in politics.
