Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has responded to widespread speculation surrounding her recent physical transformation, denying rumours that she used Ozempic or any weight-loss medication. Speaking candidly in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, the actress said that her new look is the result of natural changes and self-acceptance — not external interventions.
Tamannaah, who has been in front of the camera since the age of 15, said people have seen her evolve over time.
“I’ve been in front of the camera since I was 15, so there’s nothing to hide. Until my late 20s, I had a slender frame — that was always my body type. What people see now is not new to me. I’ve grown up like this,” she said.
Struggles During the Pandemic
The actress revealed that the Covid-19 period marked a turning point in how her body responded to lifestyle changes, saying she found it harder to maintain her pre-pandemic physique.
“Covid hit my body really hard, and it became difficult to keep my weight the same as in my 20s. I love food — rice, roti, dal — and while doing all the healthy things, I still had to face the camera. I started feeling conscious, wondering if my tummy was coming out,” Tamannaah shared.
She noted that during this time, Hindi audiences — who knew her mostly from her post-Baahubali roles — began forming perceptions about her body, though she had long been recognized as a versatile actor in South Indian cinema.
Embracing Body Positivity
Tamannaah emphasized that women’s bodies naturally change over time, urging people to move beyond rigid beauty standards.
“A woman’s body keeps changing, and every five years we meet a new version of ourselves. My curves aren’t going anywhere — I’m Sindhi, this hip and waist aren’t going anywhere because that’s my bone structure,” she said with a smile.
She added that global beauty ideals shouldn’t dictate how Indian women see themselves.
“It’s aspirational to be Indian. People love our curves, and it’s time we embrace that,” she concluded.
