The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for 12 districts in Karnataka, warning residents to brace for wet conditions and a significant dip in temperatures over the next few days.

According to the latest forecast, light to moderate rain is expected across several regions, while coastal areas could experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds.

The IMD also cautioned that continuous showers may cause waterlogging in urban areas, potentially disrupting daily life and road movement. Residents have been advised to limit outdoor activities and follow local weather advisories to avoid inconvenience.

🌧️ Districts Under Rainfall Alert

The districts likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall include:
Tumkur, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Kolar, Kodagu, Chikkaballapur, Haveri, Gadag, and Dharwad.

Rainfall in these areas is expected to continue for the next two to three days, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperature.

☀️ Dry Conditions in Northern and Coastal Regions

Meanwhile, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davangere, Hassan, Shivamogga, and Vijayanagar are likely to experience dry weather during the same period.

The IMD noted that Bengaluru will continue to see cloudy skies and cool breezes, offering residents some respite from the recent humid spell.

⚠️ Advisory for Fishermen and Residents

The weather department has urged fishermen in coastal regions to stay away from deep waters and follow safety guidelines, as rough sea conditions are likely. It also advised residents in affected districts to remain cautious of slippery roads and potential flooding in low-lying areas.

🌦️ Regional Outlook

The IMD further stated that the weather disturbance is linked to a low-level atmospheric circulation over South India, which is influencing rainfall in southern and western states, including parts of Tamil Nadu.
Districts such as Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu are also expected to see moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.
