The rewards continue to pour in for the history-making India Women’s Cricket Team, who clinched their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title this year. After the BCCI’s ₹51-crore cash prize and multiple state government rewards, Tata Motors has stepped in with a grand gesture — gifting each member of the team the new Tata Sierra SUV.
The announcement came on Thursday, November 6, with Tata Motors confirming that every player of the World Cup-winning squad will receive the top-end variant of the Tata Sierra, the company’s most anticipated upcoming model.
“The Company will be presenting the top-end model of the Sierra to each member of the team, applauding their indomitable spirit and recognizing their immense contribution and sacrifice in bringing glory to the country,” Tata Motors said in a statement.
🚙 Tata Sierra: The Iconic SUV Returns
The Tata Sierra holds a legendary place in India’s automotive history. Originally introduced in 1991, it was one of the first Indian-made SUVs and became an icon for its bold design and innovation. Built on Tata’s rugged “X2” platform, the original Sierra was a three-door SUV that symbolized modern Indian motoring.
Now, after more than three decades, Tata Motors is bringing back the Sierra in a modern 5-door monocoque avatar, combining heritage design with next-generation technology. The official launch is set for November 25, 2025.
🏆 Honouring the Champions
The decision by Tata Motors follows a wave of recognition for India’s women cricketers, who captured the nation’s imagination with their World Cup triumph.
The BCCI’s ₹51-crore reward was followed by state-level announcements for individual players, and several brands have since joined in honouring the team. Tata Motors’ gesture, in particular, underlines how corporate India is celebrating the team’s success story.
The Indian women’s team’s landmark victory is being hailed as a turning point for women’s cricket in the country, inspiring a new generation of young players.
